Welcome to Mrs. Rodgers'
6th Grade Reading/Language Arts:)
I will be your child's Reading/Language Arts teacher this year!
I have been teaching Language Arts in the 6th grade since 2010. I received my Bachelor's degree in English from Ursuline College (Cleveland, OH) in 2007 and my Master's degree from the University of Findlay (Findlay, OH) in 2015. Originally born in Bulgaria I moved to the United States to be an exchange student in high school. I continued on to graduate from a high school in a Cleveland suburb and attend college where I played college volleyball. My husband is also a teacher at a neighboring school district and both of us are involved with coaching high school and club volleyball. We have two children - Mason (7), and Julianne (4) who are energetic and keep us on our toes. Some of our hobbies are traveling, spending time with the kids, home remodeling projects, and of course - volleyball!
A lot of what we do in Language Arts in the 6th grade is designed to prepare our students for the challenges of the middle school grades and beyond. Our big focuses are improving our comprehension skills and our writing skills. We read a variety of texts and culminate our year with a research project.
I am looking forward to spending the year with your son or daughter. I hope it's a memorable one!
