Hello! I will be your child's science and social studies teacher this year. I received my bachelor's degree from Wright State University and my master's degree from the University of Dayton. I grew up and still live in Minster with my husband Mark. We have three children - Aaron, Alana, and Jack. I am very excited to have your child in class with me and I hope I can make it a wonderful year for him/her. In Science, we will be learning a little bit from all three areas - Earth and Space, Life, and Physical science. In Social Studies, we will be studying ancient Eastern Hemisphere. The History Alive book we use is about 75% hands-on, so hopefully it really will come alive for them! I will be sending home a letter during the first week of school that will give more details about these classes. In my classroom, I have a library that your child can use to get books for their AR book. Most of them are AR books at a variety of range levels. Please encourage your child to check out this other option if they are in need of an Accelerated Reader book! This year we will have a 20 minute class time called Cardinal Pride Time. During this time, we will work individually with any student who has questions on anything that we may be working on in class, or having group discussions on problems they may be having with adjusting to 6thgrade ( such as lockers no longer being in their classroom).
Please encourage your child to use his/her planner and check it nightly. We will be asking that they have it out in every class and write down any assignment as it is given.
