New Bremen Local School District community and visitors:

Due to the solar eclipse on Monday, April 8, 2024, our region is expecting an extraordinarily large number of visitors.

To ensure the safety and security of our students, staff, and facilities, New Bremen Local Schools will be closed to all visitors from Sunday, April 7 at 7:00pm until normal school hours resume on Tuesday, April 9. This closure does include the Cardinal Booster Center (CBC). 

Our school campus is not an ideal viewing location for the eclipse. Our security and parking lot lighting systems are automated and will activate during the event, negatively impacting eclipse viewing conditions.

We apologize for any inconvenience, but the safety of our school community must take priority. We appreciate your understanding in this matter and look forward to welcoming students back on Tuesday after this rare and exciting celestial event. Please contact the district office if you have any questions or concerns.

 NEW BREMEN EDUCATION FOUNDATION CONTINUES TO ASSIST STUDENTS WITH ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS

The New Bremen Education Foundation is pleased to announce the opening of its 2024 fundraising campaign to generate scholarship money for graduates of New Bremen High School.  In the first year of operation, the foundation awarded 7 academic scholarships.  In 2023, the foundation gave out 121 awards totaling approximately $149,849.00.  The Education Foundation Trustees invite individuals, businesses, and organizations to consider a contribution to this worthy cause.  The amount of each donation may remain confidential; however, the names of all donors will be released during the scholarship presentation at graduation unless requested otherwise.

There are two different types of donations.  The first is an annual contribution, all of which is distributed as scholarship monies to this year’s recipients.  Secondly, donors of large sums of cash, stocks, or bonds may specify their gift as a perpetual donation.  These donations are invested with only the interest being distributed each year.  The names of individuals or groups who make perpetual donations are included on the donor list every year following the donation.

Any group or individual interested in making a contribution can do so by cash or check.  Checks should be made payable to “New Bremen Foundation” with the scholarship name noted in the memo line and can be mailed to: New Bremen Foundation, PO Box 97, New Bremen, OH 45869.  If you have any questions please contact Anna Rammel, New Bremen Foundation Coordinator, at [email protected].

The New Bremen Board of Education is seeking applicants for a vacant Board seat. The Board will appoint someone by February 3rd to serve through the 2025 election cycle (2 years). At that time, voters will decide who finishes out the remaining two years of the term. Applications for the vacant Board seat are available by contacting the district office at 419-629-8606. The position will be open until filled.
