7th Art-Back Portrait

You will be doing a preinstruction drawing of a back portrait. You will need the 12 x 18 sheet of white drawing paper that you received at the beginning of the 9 weeks. If you do not have this, any paper will do. Select someone to be your subject matter and you need to sit directly behind them about 2 feet away. A portrait is from the shoulders up, and using a graphite pencil, to the best of your ability draw for me a back portrait of your selected subject. Try to think back to all previous drawing skills you have learned. Feel free to add any shading that you feel comfortable with. You have 2 weeks to complete this assignment. Enjoy your day!

8th Art-Perspective Corner

You will be doing a preinstruction perspective drawing of any corner in your home that you find interesting. You will use the 12 x 18 sheet of white drawing paper that you were given at the beginning of the 9 weeks. If you don't have this any paper will be accepted. Select a corner(include 2 walls, a ceiling and floor), and sit at least 5 feet away. Using a graphite pencil, and a ruler, to the best of your ability draw the selected corner and everything you see in it. Try to think back to all previous skills you have learned about perspective. Feel free to add any shading that you feel comfortable with. You have 2 weeks to complete this assignment. Enjoy your day!

Art 1-Art Critique

You will be doing an art critique that follows along with Bloom's Taxonomy. You will need to go tohttp://www.daytonartinstitute.org/. Once you are there you need to select the ART tab and then select the AMERICAN tab. In the American Art section please select the Dicke Wing of American Art. There are 2 works of art that I would like you to critique. The works areLost and Found, 2003, by Alison Saar, and High Noon,1949,by Edward Hopper. There are 6 levels of Blooms Taxonomy questions that I would like you to answer. These are: 1) Describe the painting.(Knowledge) 2) What is the subject or theme?(Understanding) 3) If you could interview the artist,what questions would you ask?(Application) 4) Explain what you think the artist is tring to say about the subject matter.(Analysis) 5) What ways would you render the subject differently?(Synthesis) 6) What is your opinion of the artwork? Why?(Evaluation) You have 2 weeks to do this lesson. Enjoy your day!

Art II,III,IV-Arts Journal

You will be reading a daily arts journal and summarizing 2 current art topics. You will need to go tohttp://www.artsjournal.com/. Once you are there you will need to click on VISUAL. You then need to look in the center column with current visual art stories for the day and the past week. Select 2 of the stories that you find interesting and then read the selections. Please write a brief description and summary about each article that you have chosen. You have 2 weeks to complete this assignment. Enjoy your day!
