My name is Mrs. Tess Moeller and I am extremely excited for this school year. I graduated from Marion Local High School in 2001, then attended the University of Toledo where I received my Bachelor’s degree in Middle Childhood Education in 2005. I obtained my Master’s degree from Marygrove College in 2008. This will be my 11th year of teaching.
Currently I reside in Chickasaw with my husband, Ben, and three daughters, Delaney, Jayda, and Shay. When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, and running.
I am anticipating a fun-filled math adventure this year! The fifth grade math class is a problem-solving based classroom, where students will have the opportunity to collaborate with others in small groups and frequently share their mathematical thinking with the entire class. Some technology tools the students will be utilizing frequently are the Smartboard (including interactive Gizmos) and Smart Response clickers. In addition, they will participate in computer activities with GO Math and access a computer program called IXL which allows students to move through math concepts at their own pace. We have ten new iPads for fifth grade this year as well! I am anxious to see the success students will reach this year using these teaching tools!
My goal is to help my students develop a strong mathematical foundation using problem solving skills in real world situations, while developing a love for learning. I want my students to do their very best and I will do my best to ensure they become independent, critical thinking individuals who will be capable of leading us into the future. They truly are our future!
