To better understand the influence of Ohio on the growth and development of the U.S., students need to recognize the significance of Ohio inventions in communication, technology and transportation.
Lesson Overview
You are going to explore different inventors from Ohio and their inventions. Using the internet you will investigate different inventions, learn about the person who invented it, why they invented it and learn how it changed Ohio or the U.S.
Task #1
Click on and explore the link: http://www.ohiohistorycentral.org/ This web site focuses on Ohio facts. Click on the INDEX button at the top bar. An alphabetical list will appear for each letter A-Z. Your assignment is just to explore and look at some of the famous people that may interest you. (About 10 minutes)
Task #2
Now you are going to use this website and learn about 6 specific inventors from Ohio.On a sheet of paper list the 6 inventors below and name at least one invention for each and describe how these inventions have changed Ohio or the U.S.
